Applications in a Domain and their Life Cycles

PlanningIT supports all 4 domains of TOGAF. The application architecture, the information architecture, business architecture and technology architecture. The explorer on the left shows how an enterprise architecture can be grouped into domains with underlying sub-domains and business capabilities.. We can also see the applications that have been associated with the domain and we can drill down into the life cycle of each of the applications.

Application Landscape

The diagram above shows an application diagram that shows the overall landscape of an application including information flows, application health information and specific information for the current existing interfaces (batch, online, etc). Users very quickly understand the impact that changes to the application will have on other applications. The data can be filtered so that only relevant information is displayed.

Application Review

We see here a so-called application cockpit. An application cockpit summarizes important application information in an easy to navigate summary screen. From here the user can drill down into different parts of the application profile, for example the current technical application architecture, where in the business the application is used and the specific interfaces that exist between this application and other applications.
